Elephants on the Brooklyn Bridge
Brooklyn Bridge 3km 9min
When the Brooklyn Bridge opened in May of 1883 it relied on foot passengers to help pay off its construction debts. But then shortly after opening, a stampede made people nervous about the safety and stability of the bridge. But then P.T. Barnum needed a way to move his circus from Manhattan to Brooklyn. Including a stunt that would require more than 20 elephants.
